Pastor: The Rev. David Huffman
Our pastor, David Huffman, has been at Trinity since August of 1981. He is a native of Burlington, NC and a graduate of the UNC in Chapel Hill and Princeton Theological Seminary. He received a Merrill Fellowship from Harvard Divinity School in 1986, which involved a semester of postgraduate study. When he is not serving the church, he loves to surf, play the saxophone, and do woodworking. He and his wife, Elaine, have two daughters, Katie and Anna, who love sports, music, art, dance, and taking trips to the beach and mountains in the summer.
Director of Christian Education: Vickie Dieth
Vickie Caro Dieth joined our staff as Director of Christian Education in June of 2006. She claims Florida as her home, but has been “affected” by key developmental years spent in Alabama and Texas as well (those years also had an effect on her accent)! Two years after graduating with a degree in Sociology from Stetson University, she found herself in Richmond, VA at the Presbyterian School of Christian Education. While there, she discovered two loves: educational ministry and, her husband, Danny!
Vickie has served churches in Florida, Alabama, and Western North Carolina and has found her latest passion centers around families with young children, encouraging parents as they seek to be faithful. Perhaps this most recent focus is due to her own challenges and joys of raising her three-year-old daughter, Hannah!
Co-Director of Music, Organist, and Director of Chancel Bells (adult and youth ) :
J. Herbert Joyner is a native of Henderson, NC and a graduate of East Carolina University and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Herbert served First Baptist Church in Kinston as choir director and organist for twenty years before coming to Trinity in May of 1981. In addition to his love of music and flowers, Herbert has had a second career of rehabbing and selling older homes in downtown Raleigh.
Co-Director of Music, Director of Chancel Choir (adult)and Children's Choir (K-5) : Nancy Shelton
Nancy Shelton has been director of our children’s and youth choirs for the past six years. She is a trained church choir director and has served other churches in the past. In addition to singing in the chancel choir she also assists Herbert in directing and accompaniment.
Office Manager: Janet Eason
Janet Eason joined Trinity Presbyterian in the Fall of '07 as Office Manager.
